Haven er et sted, hvor mennesket kan beherske og bedåre naturen, og haven kan i denne forstand sammenlignes med et kunstrum og et sekulariseret kirkerum. Vores forhold til haven trækker tråde helt tilbage til barokhaven, som har været med til at skabe en ny opfattelse af naturen som noget, vi kan kontrollere og have magt over. Haven kan derfor også anses som katalysator for de geologiske udfordringer, som vi nu står overfor, blandt andet i forhold til klimaet. Men det er selvfølgelig mere kompliceret end det. For i haven, plejen, tilbedelsen og nydelsen af skønheden ved en blomst i fuld flor ligger en masse omsorg og kærlighed. Inga Gerner Nielsen undersøger gennem det borgerinddragende performance og udstillingsprojekt only here to adore haven som et afgrænset rum for omsorg, kontrol og tilbedelse.

Menneskeheden er på bagkant af industrialiseringen blevet en geologisk magtspiller, globaliseringen er altomfattende, og ét planetarisk nu kolliderer med flere sameksisterende tider, hvilket skaber en samtid præget af uvished og ubegribelighed. Haven bliver dermed et rum, hvor den enkelte vender sig mod det ultranære og det kontrollerbare, og hvor naturen bliver en håndgribelig størrelse. only here to adore undersøger gennem haveejerens blik haverne i Hjørring og sætter disse indsigter i relation til idéen om den vilde natur, kommunens projekt “Vild Med Vilje” og til menneskets behov for beherskelse og æstetik.

only here to adore udfolder sig i tre dele. Første del finder sted hos Landlyst Plantecenter, hvor Inga Gerner Nielsen interviewer haveejere om deres indkøb, overvejelser og drømme for den kommende havesæson. Disse interviews danner grundlag for udviklingen af partiturer og koreografier sammen med en performer, som vises på Vendsyssel Kunstmuseum. Performancen bliver filmet og danner grundlag for et videoværk.

Inga Gerner Nielsen (f.1983) bor og arbejder i Tversted og Bruxelles. I sin performative praksis arbejder hun med fordrejninger af mytologiske væsener og verdener i performance-installationer.

The garden is a space where you can master and adore nature, and the garden is somewhat comparable to an art space or even the church as spaces for both immersive and aesthetic experiences. Our relation to the garden derives from the baroque garden and that has formed our perception of the garden as something we can control. The garden therefore plays an active role in global environmental issues, too, regarding biodiversity where foreign plants and pesticides force many kinds of insects to extinction and which naturally affects the animal life all over our planet. It is a complicated matter and a big issue to put on the shoulders of the garden owners who nurture, care, and adore the beauty of their flourishing gardens that they care for with love and tenderness. In only here to adore Inga Gerner Nielsen seeks to understand the garden’s owner through a socially engaging performance and exhibition, where the garden as a separate space for care is examined.

Humankind has after industrialization become a geological force, globalization is ubiquitous, and time is colliding in one planetary now which is creating a contemporary time weighed down by uncertainty and incomprehensibility. In this infinite global society the garden becomes a space for people to focus on the lawn and plants as available, specific, and controllable forms and nature hereby becomes a tangible concept. only here to adore examines the gardens of Hjørring through the eyes of the garden owners and unites these insights to the municipal project ‘Vild Med Vilje’ and the human need to master the surroundings and being attracted to aesthetic pleasures such as flowers’ smell and colors.

only here to adore unfolds in three parts. The first part takes place at Landlyst Plantecenter just outside Hjørring where Gerner Nielsen interviews garden owners about what they have purchased at the garden center and their hopes and dreams for their summer garden. These interviews form the foundation for developing scores and a choreography for a performance that Gerner Nielsen and another performer will show at Vendsyssel Kunstmuseum. The performance is also filmed and transformed into a video work.

Inga Gerner Nielsen (b. 1983) lives and works in Tversted and Brussels. In her performative practice she works with distorting mythologies and traditional conceptions of reality in our society in performative moments and installations.
