Landområdet nord for Jyske Ås var havbund i Yoldia-havet i den seneste istid, og kun det særprægede maritime forlandskab med rimmer og dobber er synlige aftryk af denne fortidsfortælling.
Post Oceanic Wonders er en kunstnerisk dialog mellem nyproducerede værker af Kasper Holm Jensen og Luna Lund Jensen, der undersøger relationerne mellem den lokale naturs materialer, genskabte mytologier og teknologisk mediering i glas, kalk og ler og som video- og lydinstallation.
Skagens Oddes forhistorie bærer på dommedagslignende beretninger om sandflugt og naturens ubarmhjertige kræfter, både til lands og til havs, hvor både tro og stædighed har bragt historien videre. Post Oceanic Wonders bærer fortiden med sig ind i et fremtidssyn, hvor forgængelighed og naturkræfter sætter livet på spidsen her. I vores samtid er det en nødvendighed, at vi vender blikket tilbage på vores omgivelser. For vi lever i en tid, hvor naturens cykliske tid truer med stigende have og stigende temperaturer, der i sidste ende nedkøler eller stopper golfstrømmen og skaber en ny istid.
Sandflugten, som tog til i 1700-tallet på Skagens Odde skyldtes blandt andet store udsving i klimaet, hvor temperaturerne blandt andet faldt. Denne periode kalder man for “den lille istid” - og hvem ved, måske har dette blot været en forsmag på, hvad naturen er i stand til.
Kasper Holm Jensen (f. 1983) bor og arbejder i Tårup og fokuserer i sin kunstneriske praksis på mytologier, magtrelationer og objekters selvstændige narrativer. Luna Lund Jensen (f. 1992) bor og arbejder i Aarhus. I sin praksis beskæftiger hun sig med magtstrukturer, modstandsstrategier og utopier udfoldet gennem narration: i video, keramik og tekst. Post Oceanic Wonders vises i Skagen.

The area north of Jyske Ås was seabed in the last ice age, and the distinctive maritime foreland is the only visible remains of the past and the history about the appearance of this land we now know as Skagens Odde.
In Post Oceanic Wonders Luna Lund Jensen and Kasper Holm Jensen seeks to unfold stories and mythologies about this area where the natural forces still control life and landscapes with newly produced works in glass, calcium, and as a video and sound installation.
The history of Skagens Odde is brutal with a series of doomsday- like reports from the 18. century where the fleeting sand literally ate peoples houses and even whole towns. The natural forces - both the wind and the sea - have challenged the stubborn citizens of this area and do still play a massive role in life in this area. With this history in mind Post Oceanic Wonders offers a vision for the future that is not necessarily comforting or wishful but might be realistic in terms of global warming and a new ice age coming up due to the weakened Gulf Stream.
The fleeing sand dunes in the 18. century happened due to a colder climate because of what we today call “the small ice age”. The cooler climate also happened to be more violent with stronger wind that forced the big masses of sand to move. And who knows, maybe this could happen again?
Kasper Holm Jensen (b. 1983) lives and works in Tårup, and in his artistic practice he is interested in mythologies, power relations, and the narrative of objects. Luna Lund Jensen (f. 1992) lives and works in Aarhus. In her practice she works with structures of power, resistance strategies, and utopian narratives through video, ceramics, and texts. Post Oceanic Wonders is shown in Skagen.
