As the season at Skal Contemporary draws to a close, we invite you to a closing ritual at Skagen Grå Fyr. Join us to mark the end of the season and the closing of Noah Holtegaard’s exhibition Deres af Hjertets hengivne.
Inspired by the exhibition, composer and recorder player Stine Benjaminsen creates a site-specific performance that begins inside the lighthouse, moves outdoors and concludes in the exhibition space among Noah Holtegaard’s works. Through performance and music, Benjaminsen creates a closing ritual in which sound, space and movement connect with the site and the works in the exhibition.
The performance takes place at sunset. Afterwards, we will serve something warm to drink. Participation in the closing ritual is free, and no registration is required.
Stine Benjaminsen is a composer, performer and recorder player. Her works often revolve around poetry, with text featuring either directly, as verse, or indirectly, as inspiration for the music. She explores timbre through intuitive and sensory compositions in which the music embraces slowness and openness, bringing the simple and fragile into focus. Stine draws inspiration from human relationships, nature, connections and contrasts. She creates solo performances that invite listeners into organic, living sound worlds, forging connections through improvisation with the spaces they inhabit together.
Stine has created site-specific sound works, choral works, chamber music and electroacoustic compositions, and has collaborated with visual artists and art museums. She has toured the Faroe Islands, Iceland, Germany and Denmark with ensembles including Duo Bragi, Recorder Recorder and Cake Of Day.
Stine completed her postgraduate soloist studies at the Danish National Academy of Music (2019–2021) and holds both a bachelor’s and a master’s degree in classical recorder performance from the same institution (2013–2018).
The event is kindly supported by the Danish Arts Foundation, the North Denmark Region, Det Obelske Familiefond, Augustinusfonden, 15. Juni Fonden, Den Jyske Kunstfond og Frederikshavn Municipality.
